Drones


Shocking to say this but drones have been around for quite a while and this is no new technology. They have been used mainly by the military mostly to survey enemy or new territory. This are big massive drones that at times resemble a real plane/jet.
They come with different names like Quadcopters, multirotor, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) etc. All of these “drones” are designed to carry out various functions and have varieties of capabilities.  In this article we will discuss all of them in general.

Design and functionality

Depending on the type of work they will do/carry out their Artcurial design varies from drone to another. This include speed, battery life, max altitude, life duration.

Let’s start with the common military drones. This are designed using high level technology, travel at high altitudes and not able to be detected with radars. Equipped with high definition cameras they take aerial pictures which are transmitted back to base. 
They also have GPS mounted on them for location information. They are able to carry large and heavy equipment destined to volatile areas, this may include booms, relief food, armors etc.

Secondly we have the middle sized drones. This are used by the mid-levels companies to carry out tasks that are not sensitive or mission critical. Some of this include delivery drones. This is an area that is now flooding the market. Every new start up is either manufacturing one or creating APIs for one.
Companies like amazon are adopting delivery system using this these drones. Small light cargoes are mounted on this drone and destination coordinates are sent to the drone. The drone is able to fly to the destination deliver the cargo and back to the source.

With this logistics are simplified and delivery are made quick. Apart from delivery some of this drones are used by movie companies in taking movies shots from different angles and pictures. In the invent of a hostile or hostage situations drones mounted with speakers and cameras are used to carry out negotiations.

Lastly but not least the mini drones or personal drones. This are stocked off the shelf and are cheap and easy to use. Some are even controlled by a mobile phone.  Most of these are not used for commercial use they are basically toys both for kids and adults (I mean who would not like to play with one ). One of my most favorite is the selfie drone by air selfie. This baby is amazing the fact that it can be compacted with the phone it’s mind blowing .

Advantages & disadvantages

I must say this is one of those days both the bad and the good kind of balance. Let’s start with the good.

First they have made logistic easy. Just mount the load on a drone give it coordinates and you done.  You don’t have to worry about traffic or the driver not showing up at work.

Secondly it’s safe. This is in the event of hostile environments instead of deploying humans and putting their life at risks it’s easy to send a machine out there collect information of even do interviews.

Lastly job creations. More drones means more programmers, manufactures and people to man these devices.

Let’s shift gears and look at the bad side, Firstly my good friends the hackers. This guys are amazing I just love them. They are out there waiting for a product to be out and they just smash it to the ground. Personally I have not heard of one but trust me in the future to come people will bug and literally make them fall from the sky    

Secondly battery life. Some of them have very a short life thus limiting the distance they can travel. This is a big issue but still developments are made season by season.

Lastly accidents. This are technology equipment’s and they are bound to fail and if this happen on a device that’s air borne it might land on someone’s head causing massive injuries


All in all the drone world is growing and developments are made day by day. Go out there grab a drone and fly.
